Getting select items (especially key/battle items!) in Pokemon can be a pain. There’s often a specific way to acquire things just the way Game Freak wants it; but sometimes it really pays off, especially when said items are acquired easily through a normal game system. That’s the case for Razor Fang in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Teal Mask DLC, thankfully! Here’s how to get it.
You can easily get a free Razor Fang in an errant cave in the Kitakami DLC
As soon as you enter Kitakami as a result of kicking off the Teal Mask DLC, you can get a Razor Fang.
Head west on the Kitakami map and look for a small cave not attached to the cliff wall. Head inside and grab the Pokeball item on the ground. Congrats, you now own a Razor Fang! The exact location can be found on the map in the gallery above. Note that the cave is standalone! It’s easy to miss.
Razor Fang is a Kitakami Pokedex reward (for 110 volumes)
To easily acquire Razor Fang, you’ll need to see 110 Pokemon in Kitakami. Your progress can be viewed through the Kitakami Pokedex, which Jacq provided before you entered the DLC area.
Remember, you’ll need to head to the Pokedex menu (by pressing the “-” button), select the Kitakami Pokedex, then press X to open the Pokedex reward menu (phew, almost there!), and finally claim your rewards.
Wait, 110 Pokemon?
110 might seem like a lot, but don’t fret! I actually went into the DLC with 100+ Pokemon (with a complete Paldean ‘Dex), so this is attainable almost out of the gate for dedicated players. There are a handful of new Pokemon to catch immediately in the starting area too, including Poochyena and Yanma. You’ll also see a Poltchageist as a result of the fixed trainer battle with Carmine, shortly after entering Kitakami.
Plus, as a reminder, you only need to see 110 Pokemon in the Kitakami ‘Dex to actually finish this request, and unlock instant access to the Razor Fang.
What does Razor Fang do?
The Razor Fang is a classic Pokemon item, having been part of the series since the fourth generation (Diamond and Pearl). It allows the holder to force other Pokemon to flinch, and it allows Gligar to evolve into Gliscor (you need the Gligar to hold it at night, then level it up).
