Sneak or prepare your weapons.

Getting past the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor in Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite a pain. It will ask for a mystery item to be placed inside it. Once you fulfill this task, the doorway to the Inquisitor will open. Here’s how to get through the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor in Baldur’s Gate 3.

What do you need to open the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor in Baldur’s Gate 3?

As you enter the Captain’s Quarters, you’ll realize there’s a passage that’s blocked by mist. To proceed through to the Inquisitor, you’ll need a Gith Shard to open up the passageway. The problem is that the mighty Kith’rak Therezzyn is holding it. There are two ways you can go about this. First, you can kill her and take her possessions. Second, you can use Astarion to sneak behind the captain and nab the Gith Shard.

For the latter option, press the C key while she’s looking away and carefully have Astarion (or someone else with a high Sleight of Hand stat) take the shard away from her. If you’re smooth, you should be able to walk away with it. However, if she does catch you, you’ll need to dissuade her from attacking you. I tried to persuade her that Astarion would never do such a thing. The minimum roll needs to be a 15, but Astarion in my playthrough did have a +5 Persuasion proficiency bonus. I was also able to re-roll once more and succeeded.

After that, simply go to the device next to the blocked passage and place the Gith Shard inside it. I had to boot up the inventory menu in another window to drag it in. Now the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor has opened the passageway.

How to kill Kith’rak Therezzyn

If you don’t have the stealth stats required to swiftly steal the Gith Shard, you can always fight Kith’rak Therezzyn. First, close the door behind you, so fewer guards are summoned inside. Next, have Astarion or someone else in your party perform a Sneak Attack. In my playthrough at this point, Astarion was able to dish out between 7-25 damage in one single hit, but your characters may vary. Try to take her out quickly after this before she screams for guards to assist.

The dogs will be an issue as they deal a hefty amount of damage. Try to use a stunning spell on them like Tasha’s Hideous Laughter. If you’ve done this correctly, you should only have a few minions to deal with after Kith’rak and her canine companions. Once the battle is over, head over to Kith’rak and pick up the Gith Shard, as well as the Soulbreaker Greatsword, Githyanki Half Plate, and other items. Now, you can get to the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor and remove the fog with the Gith Shard.

What to do if Githyanki Barrier Disruptor is seemingly bugged

Note that there is some confusion among some players as to how to actually disrupt the barrier. Make sure you press the disruptor, open your inventory, and then drag the Gith Shard over. Sometimes you may need to drag it over the side of the inventory, as it can completely encase the actual triggering point.

Who is the Inquisitor in BG3?

Ch’r’ai W’wargaz is a Githyanki Inquisitor in Baldur’s Gate 3, leading the search for the Mysterious Artefact on behalf of Vlaakith. The queen of the Githyanki has dispatched some imposing forces to seek the Artefact after it was taken, and W’wargaz is one of the more imposing opponents Vlaakith will send after you, gaining some additional abilities on Honour Mode playthroughs. Don’t take any fight with him lightly.

To get to the Inquisitor in BG3, you have to get to the intersection, head east, and follow the path to the captain’s quarters. Speak to Kithā€™rak Therezzyn (if you managed to persuade her) and show her the artefact, and this will grant you access to the inquisitor’s chamber by placing the Gith Shard in the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor. Now, simply enter the open door to the north and follow the path which will lead you to Chā€™rā€™ai Wā€™wargaz.
