The journey to craft the strongest equipment
Valisthea is teeming with precious resources to discover. With the right materials you can upgrade Clive’s armor and weapons, allowing him to take on bigger and badder foes. Orichalcum is one of the rarer resources, and there are a limited number of ways to acquire it.
This guide will explain how to get Orichalcum in Final Fantasy 16.
When can you get Orichalcum in Final Fantasy 16?
Once you progress far enough into the game, quests become available that can earn you some Orichalcum. You’ll find five such opportunities, meaning you can only find five pieces of Orichalcum in one playthrough.
The easiest way to obtain Orichalcum is to complete hunts, which you can learn more about when you visit the Hideaway and speak to the Moogle. The hunts are only available after completing The Gathering Storm, which is the 25th main quest. These are the four hunts that will earn you Orichalcum:
- The Breaker of Worlds – This hunt is unlocked after completing the Into the Shadow main quest. It has you going up against an S-rank foe in the far east side of Cressida in Rosaria.
- Ruin Reawakened – You can tackle this hunt after completing the Fire in the Sky main quest. You’ll face a level 50 S-rank enemy located on the south side of Sanbrique.
- The Tricephalic Terror – Gorgimera is a level 45 S-rank enemy found in the Velkroy Desert. Complete Across the Narrow to unlock the hunt.
- The Masterless Marauder – You can do this hunt after completing the Back to Their Origin quest. A level 47 S-rank beast lies in your path on the north side of Vidagraes in Waloed.
The final Orichalcum comes from the Under New Management II side quest, which is part of the Back to Their Origin main quest. This is the last main quest, so make sure to collect Orichalcum from the hunts before you progress further.
What is Orichalcum used for in Final Fantasy 16?
You’ll use Orichalcum to forge the Gotterdammerung sword, which is one of the strongest weapons available. Along with three pieces of Orichalcum, you’ll also need a Primitive Battlehorn, two Darksteels, and the Ragnarok Sword. After completing all the Blacksmith Blues side quests, you’ll be able to make this mighty weapon.
Additionally, you’ll need Orichalcum to craft the Ouroboros belt and the Sons of Ouroboros vambraces.
It certainly won’t be easy collecting the necessary Orichalcum to make the Gotterdammerung. However, once the task is complete, Clive will be far deadlier, making it easier to complete some of the harder hunts.
