How to get Omni Man and Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 roster

How to get Omni-Man and Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1

We can finally do what we were meant to do.

Developer NetherRealm Studios is no stranger to adding guest characters to its fighting game rosters, and its latest Mortal Kombat 1 won’t be any different. Previously, games in the franchise saw guests such as Spawn, Freddy, and the Predator. For NetherRealm’s latest, it appears gritty comic book characters on the menu. Omni-Man and Homelander are coming to Mortal Kombat 1, and here is how you can get them when they release.

It should be noted right away that both Homelander and Omni-Man are not available in Mortal Kombat 1 at the moment. Sorry to burst your bubble. Creator Ed Boon and company were quick to reveal the contents of Mortal Kombat 1‘s first Kombat Pack ahead of the game’s launch. It will include the aforementioned “heroes” along with Takeda, Ermac, Quan Chi, and John Cena’s Peacemaker.

Kombat Pack 1 is how you will get access to these characters along with Omni-Man and Homelander. Unfortunately, NetherRealm hasn’t detailed how the Kombat Pack will dole out its characters, nor when. So far, it seems that characters may release one at a time after the game’s launch. And, according to an interview with Boon, Omni-Man will be the first out of the gate after launch. According to the Kombat Pack reveal trailer, Homelander won’t be out until spring 2024.

Who will voice Omni-Man and Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?

Omni-Man and Homelander have some powerful personalities, and they’ll need the voices to match. J.K. Simmons is confirmed to voice Omni-Man, reprising his role in the Amazon animated hit Invincible. So far, that’s the only voice we can confirm. Neither Boon nor NetherRealm have mentioned if Homelander will be voiced by actor Antony Starr, who plays the milk-chugging anti-hero in The Boys.

How are they different, really?

Not after NetherRealm confirmed the characters in the Kombat Pack 1 reveal trailer, fans began to wonder how the two will differ. It’s a bit of an oversimplification to call them both “evil Superman.” Homelander will certainly have his flight, strength, and laser vision. But he’s akin to a tactical fighter, whereas Omni-Man is more of a brawler with his brute strength and speed. Neither have Superman’s oft-forgotten freeze-breath.

According to Boon, the NetherRealm team is taking the differences between the two to heart. In an interview with IGN, Boon addressed how the characters will play.

“We’re not going to have them both do all the kind of category of Superman-type things,” he said. “We’re going to divvy up those abilities, so it’s not like it’s just a clone of the same character. They’re definitely going to play differently.”
