How to get Okidogi in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet The Teal Mask

He’s a good boy, I promise.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s first DLC pack, The Teal Mask, includes a variety of new Pokemon to collect. One of the most elusive is Okidogi, the mischievous guard dog Pokemon. If you want to add this highly anticipated member of the Toxic Chain trio to your team in The Teal Mask, here’s what you need to do to catch Okidogi.

How to catch Okidogi in The Teal Mask

There is a single main requirement for unlocking the ability to catch Okidogi in The Teal Mask DLC, and that is to beat the main story first. Once you finally complete the entire story, catch Ogerpon, and defeat Carmine for the last time, you’ll be able to catch Okidogi and the rest of his trio.

Though you fight Okidogi in the main story, you aren’t able to catch it then. That is the Titanic Okidogi form, where your sole goal is to collect the mask it stole. After the story, you can find Okidogi in the same spot where you first battled it in the Paradise Barrens region in the northwestern corner of Kitakami.

Head here and you can find Okidogi—now in a normal size—hanging out in the same spot. I recommend saving before encountering the Pokemon because you can accidentally defeat it in battle. It will reappear after some time in the same area, but it’s best to be careful.

The catch rate seems to be rather weak, so be prepared to lower its health, use status ailments like sleep, and have patience in trying to capture it. Note you can only capture Okidogi once and it is also shiny-locked in the DLC, so don’t waste your time resetting the game.

Okidogi stats, abilities, and more explained

Okidogi is a Poison and Fighting-type Pokemon in The Teal Mask DLC. These are its stats:

  • HP: 88
  • Attack: 128
  • Defense: 115
  • Special Attack: 58
  • Special Defense: 86
  • Speed: 80
  • Base Stat Total: 555

Its possible abilities are Toxic Chain and the hidden ability, Guard Dog. Toxic Chain has a chance of causing the opponent to be badly poisoned when attacking. Guard Dog, on the other hand, makes Okidogi immune to the Intimidate ability and even raises its Attack stat if used. In addition, Guard Dog nullifies any moves and items that would switch Okidogi out for another Pokemon.

These are the default moves Okidogi has when you catch it:

  • Poison Jab
  • Brutal Swing
  • Crunch
  • Superpower
