How to get Moon Gel in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV)

The name is very literal

Despite being a last expansion material in Final Fantasy XIV, Moon Gel comes up as a required ingredient in a surprising number of level 90+ recipes, including those which can be crafted to hand into the GC for easy crafting and gathering EXP boosts.

You could of course purchase it, but the renewed need for the material and the fact that we’re very early into a new expansion means that Moon Gel is going through something of a renaissance, and the prices on the Marketboard reflect this.

If you want to save yourself a buck, and you’ve got a little bit of spare time on your hands, you can easily make your own for free. Then, either sell it while the price is high, or use it in your own crafts.

To make Moon Gel, you’re going to need two ingredients:

  • 1 Lunatender Blossoms
  • 3 Mousse Flesh

These two monster dropped items aren’t difficult to find and can be farmed pretty efficiently, thanks to the close proximity of their spawning locations. Both ingredients drop from Mare Lamentorum monsters, with Mousse Flesh dropping from Mousse in the west and Lunatender Blossoms from Lunatenders in the east.

There are large numbers of both in their respective areas, and if you fly between the two areas after taking down all of the monsters in one area, they’ll be respawned by the time you’re finished in the other.

Plus, thanks to the newly increased level cap of 100, each of these monsters can be taken down in 3-4 hits, making farming the drops easy.

You can also purchase both items using Bicolor Gemstones.

If you’ve not completed Endwalker’s Shared FATEs, you’ll still be able to purchase both items from Tradingway in Bestway Burrows (X:21.8, Y:12.2) for 2 Bicolor Gemstones each.

If you’ve completed all of Endwalker’s Shared FATEs, you’ll still be able to purchase both Mousse Flesh and Lunatender Blossoms from Tradingway, but you’ll also be able to purchase it from Endwalker’s two city hub Gemstone Traders.

The city hub Gemstone Traders in Endwalker can be found in the following locations:

  • Old Sharlayan (X:12.7, Y:10.4)
  • Radz-at-Han (X:11.1, Y:10.2)
