How to get the Mataiodoxia Exotic Armor in Destiny 2

Try to say that three times fast.

Destiny 2 may focus a lot on its weapon sandbox, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the armor side of things. Armor can provide just as much of a boost, both through increasing individual stats and by providing all sorts of mods to improve damage output or increase survivability.

In the case of some Exotic armor offerings, it’s an even better venture to pursue. To earn a chest piece really worth your time, here’s how to get the Mataiodoxia exotic Warlock armor in Destiny 2.

Where to get the Mataiodoxia in Destiny 2

The most direct way to acquire the Mataiodoxia armor is to complete The Final Shape campaign on Legendary difficulty, which is selected upon starting it. Once you complete the final mission, you’ll be given several choices for exotic armor, including the Mataiodoxia armor, which is given immediately when selecting it. Be sure you’re playing as a Warlock here, as you can’t earn other class exotics when completing the campaign.

If you’ve already completed the campaign and selected another piece of armor, you aren’t completely screwed. By getting Master Rahool to level 17 and resetting your rank with him, you’ll gain access to Focused Decoding. This menu lets you spend one Exotic Cipher and one Exotic Engram to receive an exotic armor piece of your choice. The Mataiodoxia is among the available options.

Is the Mataiodoxia worth using?

The Mataiodoxia’s intrinsic perk, Stylostixis, makes enemies hit by your Arcane Needle melee ability create a suspending detonation, causing them and nearby targets to be suspended. Hitting a large target with all three Arcane Needles causes a much larger detonation. Defeating these enemies will grant you melee energy. On top of all this, the armor makes your Arcane Needle deal damage to Barrier Champions. All of this combined makes the Mataiodoxia incredibly good for either a Strand or Prismatic build that runs Arcane Needle and has extra usefulness in high-tier content.
