At the recent Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, Phil Spencer and Naoki Yoshida revealed that Final Fantasy XIV would be heading to the Xbox Series X|S. On Series X, FF14 will have 4k support as well as faster loading. It will be a digital-only release for the Xbox version. If you plan on checking out the MMORPG on an Xbox Series X|S, you’re probably wondering how to get into the FFXIV Xbox Beta. Below is everything we know about the beta, how to access it, and when it begins.
When is the Final Fantasy XIV Xbox open beta?
Square Enix has yet to confirm a specific date for the open beta for Xbox, saying only that it would come during the 6.5x patch cycle. Patch 6.5, titled Growing Light, launched on October 3, 2023. However, the open beta did not appear to start at the same time. With 6.5x expected to have several update releases over the next few months, there is a pretty big window in terms of when we can expect the Xbox open beta to start.
Also, back when the Xbox version was revealed, Square Enix mentioned an open beta scheduled for 2024. Assuming it’s the same beta, we won’t see it begin until a later 6.5x patch that starts in early 2024. Seeing as this is the last set of updates before the expansion launch, it will take several months.
Final Fantasy XIV release date for Xbox
There has not been a confirmed release date yet, but FF14 is expected to release on Xbox in Spring 2024. We know the new expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will release in Summer 2024. It would make sense that Square Enix wants to release the Xbox version before the new expansion. That way, players could familiarize themselves with the controls before the new expansion launch.
It’s likely we’ll get an actual release date once we get into the new year.
