How to get infinite ammo in the Resident Evil 4 remake

The kind of work to get it might give you paws.

The enemies Leon fights are more terrifying than ever in the Resident Evil 4 remake. They’re faster, more violent, and can’t ever seem to miss their damn swings even though there was no way that hit, Capcom. With this much against you, it would be a relief to tilt the odds in your favor. Perhaps to an absurd degree, even. Fortunately, there are ways to get infinite ammo in the Resident Evil 4 remake, making much of its challenging battles and boss encounters feel trivial.

Keep in mind that getting infinite ammo in the game is anything but trivial. It takes a lot of time and effort; you may end up deciding it’s not worth the struggle. But if you’re stubborn and feel you have dealt with worse, like maining the Straight Sword Hilt in Dark Souls worse, then read on.

Ways to get infinite ammo in the Resident Evil 4 remake

The first step on your journey to infinite ammo in the Resident Evil 4 remake is to complete the campaign. Once you do, you unlock Professional mode, the hardest mode in the game. However, just beating the game in Professional won’t award you with infinite ammo.

Once you unlock the mode, you must replay the game in Professional and earn an S+ rank. And here is where things get scary. To earn the coveted S+ rank, you must play a brand new save file (no NG+ allowed), complete the game in Professional in 5.5 hours or less, and use the typewriter to save 15 or fewer times. Accomplishing this will award you with the Cat Ears, and equipping it will give you infinite ammo in any run of the Resident Evil 4 remake with any weapon except the rocket launcher.

Other weapons with infinite ammo can help

It sounds nearly impossible, but there are ways to make it through. First, it’s suggested that you attempt to finish Professional mode once with an A rank. The requirements for A rank are friendlier: Complete the game in seven hours or less. Doing so unlocks the Chicago Sweeper, a powerful SMG. The weapon’s final upgrade grants it infinite ammo. With the Sweeper available, play through Professional again and pour all your money into it. The weapon becomes a bullet hose, making the S+ rank more possible.

If you’re making your way through NG+ mode, you may want to save up for a specific prize. For 2 million pesetas, you can purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher from the Merchant. It’s exactly what it says on the tin: A rocket launcher with infinite ammo. You’ll be unstoppable.
