Ice Breaker, the beloved Exotic sniper rifle from Destiny, has finally made its triumphant return in Destiny 2. It has garnered some pretty universal acclaim from veterans and is sure to win over those who have yet to experience it. Here’s how to get it.
Where to get the Ice Breaker Exotic sniper rifle in Destiny 2
This Solar sniper rifle, which uses Special ammo, has a chance of dropping upon completion of Vesper’s Host Dungeon. To gain access to this Eliksni-hijacked station, Guardians will need to speak with Spider in The Last City and obtain the Rogue Network quest. The Dungeon itself can then be accessed on Europa.
Ice Breaker’s eponymous Weapon Perk is an interesting mix of hot and cold. Dropping a foe with it causes them to explode. However, precision final blows or shattering a frozen target triggers an ignition.
Its Intrinsic Trait, No Backpack, encourages loadout synergy. Nabbing final blows or assists with another weapon or ability has a chance to create ammo for Ice Breaker. Should you get on a roll and take out beefier boys, then there’s a chance to create multiple rounds.

Ice Breaker Catalyst
The Ice Breaker Exotic Catalyst is Icing-Breaker. Once equipped, landing a shot on slowed or frozen targets has a chance to return a round to the magazine. It’s like a more forgiving version of Fourth Time’s the Charm.
Acquiring the Catalyst is a bit of a chore as you’ll need to complete the Rogue Network quest, two Triumphs, and a puzzle involving secret chests in secret rooms. It’s a lot. That said, it certainly helps with the uptime on Ice Breaker’s usage and is worth pursuing.
