How to get Gunpowder in Palworld

Boom boom

Once you’ve begun to unlock guns in Palworld, beginning with the Musket at level 21, you’re going to need a lot of Gunpowder. It’s not difficult to make, but the sheer amount you need can feel overwhelming, especially to begin with. Thankfully, there’s a couple of ways to get it.

How to make Gunpowder in Palworld

Gunpowder is available to unlock using two Technology Points at level 21 alongside the Musket. The recipe is as follows:

  • 2 Charcoal
  • 1 Sulfur

Charcoal is easy to manage. All you need is a Primitive Furnace, which unlocks at level 10 using three Technology Points, and some Wood. As long as you’ve got a Fire element Pal on your base, they’ll do the hard work for you and you can passively create a lot of Charcoal in a relatively short period of time.

Sulfer, on the other hand, is a little harder to come by. For starters, most of the Sulfer in Palworld spawns around the lava pools of Mount Obsidian, which is an area filled with Pals that are at least level 30. We have a dedicated guide to finding Sulfer in Palworld, so head there if you’re looking for some guidance.

Once you’ve got both of the above mentioned resources, you can create Gunpowder at a High Quality Workbench, which unlocks at level 11.

Surprisingly, there is a second option for obtaining Gunpowder and it’s likely not what you’d expect. Tocotoco, the explosion loving and very colorful bird Pal drops Gunpowder when it’s killed or captured.

Tocotoco congregate mostly in the Desiccated Desert, but to head there you’ll need to be at least level 40 if you stand any chance of surviving an encounter. However, some Tocotoco can also be found in the much lower level forest biome, as well as possibly appearing as an Alpha Pal final boss in Dungeons which spawn at random across the map.
