How to get Gley in The First Descendant

A great DPS option

When you first play The First Descendant, you’ll choose between one of three characters for the beginning of your journey. However, over time, you’ll unlock new Descendants to play as, with some being much more powerful than others. Gley is one of the strongest characters available for her utility and raw damage output.

How to unlock Gley in The First Descendant

There are two ways to unlock Gley in The First Descendant:

  1. Buy her through the Descendants premium shop.
  2. Research her after collecting her crafting components.

If you don’t mind spending real money or have some Caliber to spare, you can immediately buy her as a full character through The First Descendant’s premium store. Otherwise, if you prefer free-to-play methods, you can complete her unlock mission and research her by visiting Magister Anais in Albion.

Purchase in the premium store

Your first option is to find Gley through the Descendant premium shop, which you can access through your inventory menu. Here, you’ll initially find your current playable character, with the full Descendant list also available. Picking someone you don’t currently own, such as Gley, brings you to a purchase page, where you’ll find her cost of 600 Caliber.

Gley costs 600 Caliber to purchase, or the equivalent of $12. However, The First Descendant doesn’t offer a way to buy 600 as an exact amount, so you’ll likely have to opt for the 1060 Caliber options for $19.99 unless you have some leftover from a previous purchase.

Magister Anais’ research projects

An alternative method of obtaining Gley as a playable character is to unlock her through Magister Anais’ research projects. The research project takes 16 hours and requires multiple materials, including gold and character-specific items. Below are all the resources you’ll need:

  • 400,000 gold
  • Gley Enhanced Cells
  • Gley Stabilizer
  • Gley Spiral Catalyst
  • Gley Code

Each component also requires completing research projects, each taking eight hours. On top of this, you’ll need additional gold, resources, and blueprints to unlock each one. In other words, it’s expensive, and you’ll likely need several days or weeks to obtain Gley with this method. On the plus side, it comes down to pure dedication to get each material and doesn’t require spending real money.
