What do you do with the Fruit in Sonic Superstars?

The C in vitamin C stands for Chaos.

From Emblems to Emeralds and Red Rings, Sonic games certainly love their collectibles. While they may not be on the absurd level like, say, Donkey Kong 64, you should always expect to find something to hoard. Sonic Superstars is no exception, introducing a rare mystery Fruit you can find or earn. But what does it do?

What does the mystery Fruit do in Sonic Superstars?

The Fruit allows you to access special mid-Zone stages called ‘Act Fruit’ in Sonic Superstars. A Zone containing an Act Fruit places it between Acts 1 and 2 in the stage select screen. It costs one piece of Fruit to enter the door, which remains locked until you have some to exchange.

What is ‘Act Fruit’?

Act Fruit is kind of like a bonus level, in which you collect rings while a green line gives chase. The goal is to collect as many rings as possible to exchange at a gigantic chest at the end of the stage. You lose rings when the line touches you, so speed and keeping distance are a must.

And what do you get for those rings? Medals! Which you can spend for something else. Sonic Superstars has one lengthy-ass trading game hidden within, doesn’t it? Completing the Act also unlocked a rare part for my Battle Mode mech. It costs 200 Medals, so that’s not happening anytime soon. You can replay Act Fruit if you have Fruits to spend.

How do you get more Fruit in Sonic Superstars?

So far, I have discovered two ways to acquire more Fruit: Finding one hidden within an Act or getting a lucky hit at a Capsule at the end of Act 2. For the latter, end-stage Capsules (the containers captured animals pop out of) have a spinning prize wheel on the side with Fruit rewards.
