Where to find free Trainer cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket

You can get free Trainer cards by completing challenges in the For Advanced Players section. Unlock this feature by completing the following steps in Pokémon TCG Pocket:

  1. Reach Player Level 3 by opening various packs for XP
  2. Open the new Battle section
  3. Select Guide
  4. Complete For New Players tutorial
  5. Achieve challenges in For Advanced Players

The Battle Hub is the primary place to farm some free Trainer cards. You’ll get familiar with it through the For New Players objectives, guiding you through Pokémon’s famous showdowns. Earn various Pack Hourglasses with each task completion, giving you more opportunities to open other packs.

You’ll then unlock the For Advanced Players section directly below the New Players tutorial area.

Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to conquer these objectives, and you may even complete the whole thing in under 10 minutes. Just follow the guide the game provides you, and you’ll get some Trainer cards instantly. These cards can take on two roles: Item or Supporters. Items apply a specific healing remedy, buff to your Pokémon, or an opponent disadvantage, while Supporter gives you abilities like drawing two more cards. Supporters also have a distinct restriction of only using their skills once every turn.

The Item Trainer cards you earn from the For Advanced Players challenge can be used multiple times during the battle, differing from the Supporter role. You may get more of these cards, amongst other types, from opening your daily packs.

You can get additional cards by testing your luck with the Wonder Pick, allowing you to grab one card from another player’s deck at random. Additional items will gradually roll out over time, too, so keep checking back to see what new Pokémon await you.

You’ll eventually get the chance to trade these cards once the feature becomes available in the Pokémon TCG Pocket Social Hub. The trading mechanic is expected to come out in January 2025, adding new booster packs for your collection. Other surprises are on the horizon to improve the gaming experience further. This could mean more ways to earn free Trainer cards as more missions are released.
