When it comes to upgrading your armor in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need some items to increase its defense. While some things can be easy to find around Hyrule, specific armor sets require you to find Dragon Parts. Sometimes it’s the scales, sometimes it’s the teeth. And other times, it’s the claws.

How to get Dragon Claws in Tears of the Kingdom

During your Travels around Hyrule, you may have noticed one of the four dragons flying through the sky. Perhaps you ran into Dinraal the Fire Dragon, or maybe you’ve encountered Naydra the Ice Dragon. If you’ve already run into one of the four dragons in Hyrule, then you’ll know that they hold items key to upgrading some of the game’s most powerful armor.

Although, if you don’t know what to do, you might walk away with a scale instead of a claw.

To get the Dragon Claws, the first thing you’ll need to do is find one of the four dragons on the map. Each of them has a set path they fly throughout Hyrule, so there are places you’ll be able to see each one if you make your way to their path. The dragons move at a slow pace, but eventually after enough waiting, or if you managed to intercept them on their path, they’ll appear.

Once you have a dragon in your sights, getting the claw is very simple. You’ll first have to fly up to the dragon, either via a Zonai Device or by using the Paraglider.

Depending on the dragon you approach, a few things can happen, elemental Dragons like Dinraal and Naydra make the air either extremely hot or extremely cold. So you’ll need to prepare some elixirs just in case. Once you get close enough to the dragon, you don’t have to land on it. Just pull your bow out, and shoot the dragon in one of its claws on its leg.

Once you shoot the claw, you’ll see a flash of light, and the claw will fall to the ground below. From there, just land on the ground, and pick up your prize.

While you could shoot the dragon multiple times, you’re unable to acquire more claws until 10 real-life minutes have passed. All dragons are on a cooldown once shot, and, once the 10 minutes have passed, you’ll be able to take them on again.
