However, not all relationships are perfect. If your Sims arenā€™t as happily married as they were and are thinking of moving on, it may be time to end things. Your Sim can once again be a single on the prowl by divorcing their spouse, and hereā€™s how you can do it in Lovestruck.

How to divorce your Sims in Sims 4 Lovestruck

There are two ways to get divorced with the Lovestruck expansion:

  • Manually divorcing your Simā€™s spouse
  • Autonomous divorcing when the Relationship Satisfaction is too low

Both of these methods work perfectly, however, manually divorcing is quicker than the autonomous option where your Sims choose to divorce on their own.

If you want your Sims to divorce immediately, itā€™s simple. All you need to do is click on either Sim and choose the Relationship interactions. Divorce will be one of the options. Click on this to divorce your spouse instantly.

This will play an animation where the two Sims argue for a little, then end the relationship. This is permanent, and if you want your two Sims back together, theyā€™ll need to get remarried again.

The other method of getting your Sims divorced is by getting their Relationship Satisfaction level low enough for one of them to initiate a divorce. This is done over time by not keeping up the relationship with positive interactions.

Relationship Satisfaction levels, introduced in the Lovestruck pack, is how you determine if two Sims are happy in a relationship together. You can find the Relationship Satisfaction level by clicking on your partner in the Relationship tab, and choosing Open Profile. Scroll down in the Sim’s profile until you find Relationship, and you can see whether they are satisfied with their partner.

You can speed up lowering the Relationship Satisfaction level by repeatedly performing Mean or other negative interactions with your Spouse, like yelling at them or blaming them for problems in the marriage. If your Sim disregards their partnerā€™s Romantic Boundaries or doesn’t fix their romantic dynamic, this is another quick way to bring the satisfaction down.

Eventually, whether the Relationship Satisfaction level is brought down by negative interactions or neglect, youā€™ll receive pop-ups in the notifications section that the Sims are considering divorce. You will get multiple notifications before the divorce is completed, including a final one stating that this is the last chance to save the marriage.

Finally, when enough time has passed and if the satisfaction is not brought up, youā€™ll get the final pop-up that your Simā€™s spouse has decided to divorce them. This, much like manually divorcing, is permanent and cannot be undone.

If you donā€™t want your Sims divorcing autonomously, youā€™ll need to keep their relationship satisfactory by making sure they interact positively often, including both friendly and romantic actions. They can also choose to go to Cupidā€™s Counseling, the marriage counseling for Sims, if they want to fix a bad relationship.
