One of the new weapon types in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the Light Greatsword. If you’re interested in trying out the new weapon type, you can pick one up very early on in the Shadow Realm called Milady. Here is how to get and use the Milday Light Greatsword weapon in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Where to find the Milady Light Greatsword weapon
You can find the Milady weapon near the Castle Front entrance. The fastest way to find the Milady Light Greatsword weapon is to start at the Castle Front Site of Grace located on the northeast side of the Gravesite Plain in the Land of the Shadow. If you haven’t found this Site of Grace just yet, open your map and look for the long bridge called the Ellac Greatbridge that is northeast of the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace.
Once you reach the Castle Front, continue Northeast across another smaller bridge that leads into the castle. You’ll see a Giant Knight protecting the entrance here. He can be a bit tricky if you’re not well-equipped or prepared, so feel free to run past him. After you’ve taken him out or gotten past him, look to your left for an a staircase that leads up behind a couple of buildings on your left.
From here, head left around the side of the building where you will see small wooden stairs leading up to the roof. A standard Knight enemy patrols here, so take him out and ascend the stairs and look straight ahead for a ladder leading up into a tower. Climb this ladder and at the top, you will find a chest with the Milady in it.
You can find the exact location of Milady circled in red in the screenshot above.
How to use the Milady ā Is it a good weapon?
The Milady is a Light Greatsword, a new weapon type in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. In comparison, Light Greatswords like Milady have the long reach that standard Greatswords do, but are lighter, making for faster yet not as hard-hitting attacks. As such, most Light Greatswords, the Milady included, make use of both Strength and Dexterity scaling, unlike Greatswords which typically favor Strength.
According to its description, the Milady allows its user to wield the weapon as swiftly as they would a Straight Sword.
Milady comes with the skill Impaling Thrust that lets piercing armaments overcome enemy shields. Build power, then lunge forward for a strong thrust that pierces an enemy’s guard. This makes the Milady a great choice when encountering shield-wielding enemies, as you can use Impaling Thrust to channel and then lunge forward through the shield.
