How to get a sprinkler in Fields of Mistria

So many more free hours

One of the worst things about any cozy farming sim, including Fields of Mistria, is the staggering time-sink of running a farm, especially in the early days before you get any helpful items such as sprinklers and similar tools.

It’s easy to spend hours of every in-game day watering your crops, especially if you’re a little overambitious and have placed fields full of crops to rake in the Tesserae. Thankfully, the second major update added a new Sprinkler-type mechanic, although it is slightly more complicated than you may be used to.

If you’re looking for a Sprinkler in Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to find the “Water Sprite Statue.” Here’s how to get it and how to use it.

There’s a checklist of tasks you’ll need to complete before you can get a Water Sprite Statue, and most of it happens down in the Mines. You need access to the Dragon’s Breath spell, which you’ll only get once you’ve unlocked the three following Seals:

After you’ve broken through the Fire Seal, Caldarus will transform into his human form and bestow the Dragon’s Breath spell for you to use.

The map above shows the entrance to the cave on the eastern side of the Beach, close to the lighthouse. You’ll need to use Dragon’s Breath to destroy the rocks that block the way, and then you’ll find the following items in the golden chest inside:

  • Water Sprite Statue
  • Water Sprite Statue recipe
  • Small Essence Stone

The Water Sprite Statue will automatically water a 5×5 area of crops every day as long as you’ve put an Essence Stone into it. The Water Sprite Statue (and the Animal Sprite Statue, essentially an auto-petter) draw power from the Essence Stones placed into them, so you’ll need to stock up on them.

You may get lucky and find some Essence Stones in the Mines, but this happens rarely. Instead, you’ll want to reach Town Rank 55 and restore the Stone Refinery within the Mines. The machine inside will allow you to make your own Essence Stones using Stone and Essence in varying quantities.

There are four different sizes of Essence Stone, each capable of powering the Water Sprite Statue for a different length of time. You can also eat them to gain some Essence, but you’ll only get back what you put in, so that point is only useful for Essence Stones that you find in the Mines.

Here’s how to make each Essence Stone and how long they can power the Water Sprite Statue:

Essence Stone sizeResources neededNumber of days
Tiny Essence Stone5 Stone
5 Essence
1 day
Small Essence Stone10 Stone
25 Essence
5 days
Medium Essence Stone20 Stone
50 Essence
10 days
Large Essence Stone40 Stone
100 Essence
20 days

Once you’ve made your Essence Stone, equip it and approach the Water Sprite Statue to place it in, and the Statue will go to work for you. You can check how long you have left until you need to replace the Essence Stone by interacting with the Statue at any time. You’ll also notice that the Essence Stone gets smaller as the days pass, and the energy within is used up.
