How to fix ‘Unable to access online features’ (Error 010e-0000) in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising

I'm not sure how this one got lost in translation.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is here and the most challenging opponent isn’t even another character; it’s an error code. Failing to resolve Error 010e-0000 boots players back to the main menu and suggests that it’s a problem with connectivity. Here’s how to fix it.

Any online title is bound to have connectivity issues, particularly when it is first released. No matter how many betas, it’s almost a guarantee that there will be some kinks that need ironing out.

Why can’t Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising access online features?

Error 010e-0000 is baffling as the description isn’t even accurate. Players will run into this when first trying to play the game as GBVSR requires players to create an online handle. If that handle is rejected for whatever reason, the user is kicked back to the main menu after receiving this cryptic error.

There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why names are unacceptable, as the one I tried had no issues with Guilty Gear: Strive, another Arc System Works title. Either way, trying a different name will handle the problem. GBVSR does support changing your handle at any time, but I didn’t have luck changing my handle to the one I originally wanted.

Hopefully between Cygames and Arc System Works, the developers ease up on the name restrictions. While many don’t like to see offensive names, the restrictions we’re seeing here are extreme. Should you find yourself banging your head against the wall for longer than you’d like, you can always go with the default suggested name and try changing it later. At the end of the day, it’s going to be your terrifying fighting that will have them remembering who you are.
