How to fix Throne and Liberty ‘Grey Play Button’ bug

The Early Access launch of Throne and Liberty is here, but a pesky bug is preventing some users from being able to play. Despite being released, you may experience a bug where the Grey Play Button on Steam is unclickable, and therefore you cannot play. Here is how to fix the Throne and Liberty ‘Grey Play Button’ bug.

What to do if you can’t click the Play button

For some players, the play button for Throne and Liberty is grayed out and not clickable. Furthermore, if you check in the Downloads section on Steam, it shows the MMORPG as Unscheduled but when you try to click to manually download, it says Game Not Released. Unfortunately, this appears to be a launch-time bug that is affecting a small set of players. Amazon has confirmed the issue is a bug and that they are currently working to get a fix out ASAP for the issue.

While awaiting the bug fix, some players have had success by trying the following fixes for the ‘Grey Play Button’ bug on Throne and Liberty:

• Go Offline then back Online on Steam. Do this by clicking the Steam menu button in the top left and then going to ‘Go Offline…’.
• Restart Steam. Make sure you close out of Steam completely, then relaunch it in Administrator Mode.
• Verify File Integrity. Right-click on Throne and Liberty in your Library then go to Properties. Next, click Installed Files on the left, then Verify Integrity of Game Files.
• Uninstall and Reinstall Throne and Liberty. Make sure the game is completely uninstalled before reinstalling it via Steam.

The main issue with this bug is that it does not allow you to unpack the Throne and Liberty game files, therefore you can’t launch or even create a shortcut for the game. If you’re able to get to the step of unpacking, the play button will become clickable.
