How to fix the Diver error code in MW2 & Warzone

One of the most frustrating errors you could get

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone are full of errors that players can get at any time. Sometimes it’s because your internet connection isnā€™t consistent, while others might be for server reasons. But the Diver error code in MW2 and Warzone is one of the more unique and annoying ones you can get.

Hereā€™s what you can do to fix it.

Diver error code, explained

The Diver error message in MW2 or Warzone is unfortunately pretty serious, even though it’s perfectly fixable. It essentially means the files have critically ā€œfailed,ā€ resulting in you being unable to play the game.

In other words, there is a file that you are missing from MW2 or Warzone right now. This can be quite alarming since you may have been playing the game recently with no issues. Unlike other errors where you could maybe play offline at least, this one prevents you from accessing the game altogether. Fortunately, there are a couple of ways to fix this if you have the time.

How to fix the Diver error message in MW2 and Warzone

Once you receive the Diver error message, you should first try restarting the game. There is a slim chance that you received this error message by mistake, so it is worth seeing if the game will operate normally. If not, youā€™ll need some patience.

The next thing you should do is check for an update on the game. Whatever platform you are on, try and manually search for any updates. If youā€™re on PlayStation like me, head to the home menu of the console, press the menu button over the game, and check for updates.

If you are fully updated, then, unfortunately, youā€™re going to have to resort to the worst case scenario. PC players, this isnā€™t the worst, as you can right-click on the game in Steam and verify the filesā€™ integrity, which will fix any issues you might have.

Otherwise, your only error code fix for MW2 & Warzone is to redownload it from scratch. This usually means a file is missing from the base game itself or something got corrupted. The one positive about this is you can usually select what parts of the game you want to download, such as only Warzone or only MW2 multiplayer, and so on. This can at least speed up some of this frustrating process.
