What causes the “Server Request Failed” Error in Helldivers 2

The “Server Request Failed” Error occurs in Helldivers 2 simply because the servers are overloaded right now. With so many players trying to get in and try the game out at launch, the login servers are having trouble keeping up with the demand. This is also why players are having some trouble connecting to matchmaking and successfully teaming up with friends.

Of course, when this is due to server congestion, there’s not a whole lot that can be done on your end. Hopefully, Sony can scale up the servers a bit more to allow for more connections, or the congestion will ease up a bit over time as usually happens.

Ways to fix the “Server Request Failed” Error

In the event you continue to get this error even hours after the launch of Helldivers 2, there are technically a couple of things that can be causing the issue on your end. Here are some tips I recommend trying to fix the error:

  • Make sure Helldivers 2 servers aren’t down. It’s possible the Helldivers 2 servers have been brought down for maintenance. The best way to know is to check Helldivers 2 on Twitter.
  • Check your Internet ISP. It’s important you have a stable internet connection since Helldivers 2 is a persistent online game, so an online connection is required. Check your ISP’s website to make sure there is no downtime, or even run a speed test.
  • Try a Wired connection. If you are using WiFi, try switching to a Wired cable connection and see if that fixes your issue. WiFi connections are infamous for causing connectivity issues for certain games where you may otherwise have a working connection.

These are all the ways how to fix the “Server Request Failed” Error in Helldivers 2. In most cases, you’ll simply have to wait it out until the server congestion eases up and you are able to properly connect and bypass the error message.
