Lethal Company is an absolute blast even in its vanilla format, but like many greats that came before, the indie horror hit gains a whole new dimension by adding excellent community-made mods. For the most part, these mods are easy to install and use ā even those that require additional configuration. Still, incompatibility issues might arise, so let’s get to solving them.
Fixing Lethal Company’s dreaded error 16485
Many players are coming across errors that display the code 16485 or a variation of it. The error message itself is strange, as there is no such thing as version 16485 of Lethal Company. At the time of this writing, 45 is indeed the right version of the game to have installed. You get that error code when your game has mods installed that are causing some incompatibility with joining other players’ sessions.
One of the mods that might cause this issue is BiggerLobby, which is meant to allow for a bigger team. This will occur not because the mod itself is faulty, but for one of two reasons.
One, because you no longer have its latest version. Two, because you and one or more members of your team have incompatible versions of the same mod. As with all mods causing this error, the process is rather simple. Either uninstall and reinstall the mod in its latest version if you’re using a mod manager, or delete the mod data from your game’s installation folder.
Manual solution to 16485 in Lethal Company
To find the installation folder, go to your Steam library, left-click on Lethal Company, and choose properties. A window will pop up. Pick the Installed Files tab and click on Browse.
Once in, you can delete all mods and mod-related data. Consider deleting the mod itself and, just to be sure, the BepinEx Pack and the 2018 API.
Once you’ve done that, get all three from here once again, but move their contents to the installation folder in the following order:
- BepInEx-BepInExPack
- 2018- LC_API
- Mod
This will install the latest version of the mod, and will likely result in that error no longer surfacing. Alternatively, you can just delete all mod data, and get More Company, a similar mod that doesn’t seem to run into this issue. This error code might also show up with other mods, but the solution is always the same: delete all data that might be causing the issue, and then reinstall the newest version.
You can now enjoy Lethal Company on PC via Steam.
