How to fix MW3 Double XP tokens locked bug

It appears there’s a pretty annoying bug at the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 which is disallowing some players from using their Double XP tokens. Here is how to fix MW3 Double XP tokens locked bug so you can start leveling faster.

Best way to fix the Activating Token Double XP bug

UPDATE: At approximately 3:25 p.m. ET on November 11, MW3 received a hotfix that may have fixed this bug. Restart your game and make sure you download the hotfix and see if that fixes the issue.

In some cases, this bug can actually just be a server stability issue, especially early around the release of MW3. However, it can also sometimes be an issue on your end, in which case there are some ways to try and fix the Double XP Activating Token bug.

The absolute first thing you should do to try and fix the MW3 Double XP Tokens Locked bug is to restart your game. This doesn’t just mean back out to the menu, but completely closing the game and restarting it. This should be done whether you are on a PC or console. Unfortunately, sometimes the game can get stuck trying to activate your Double XP tokens, especially if something else is contributing a bonus. It appears the only way to fix this loop is to restart.

Another possible fix involving MW2

Currently some players have also had luck actually activating the Double XP Tokens through MW2 as opposed to MW3. Of course, this will require you to have MW2 purchased and installed. In this situation, you just need to close MW3 and launch MW2, then activate your Double XP tokens how you normally would. Then, close down MW2 and switch back to MW3. Obviously this isn’t an ideal solution, but for some players has been the only way they can get around the bug at the moment.
