How to find Tophat Gudetama in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Truly the laziest of eggs

If you’ve been playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure since it was released on Steam and Nintendo Switch on January 30, then you’ve likely already discovered the sheer joy that is adventuring around the map and taking photos of the various hidden Gudetamas.

Gudetama is my absolute favorite Sanrio character, so you can bet that I began seeking him out wherever I went as soon as I got my hands on the Camera. I’d even go as far as to say that I consider myself well-versed in his hiding places at this point. There is, however, one Gudetama that is an absolute nightmare to find and can prove elusive for players.

If you’re looking for the Tophat Gudetama, here’s everything you need to know.

What is Tophat Gudetama in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Tophat Gudetama is a specific Gudetama that can be discovered once a week after you’ve completed Pochacco’s quest “Gudetama Snap.” There aren’t any friendship level requirements associated with unlocking the ability to find Tophat Gudetama, but you will have to talk to Pochacco regularly to pick up the recurring “The Laziest Egg” quest each week.

Once you’ve picked up this quest, Tophat Gudetama will appear somewhere on the map for you to find, and that’s where the problem lies. With an ever-changing hidden location, you could be hunting around for a while before you get the shot.

How to find Tophat Gudetama in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Once you’ve picked up “The Laziest Egg” from Pochacco for the first time, you’ll need to wait until the next day for Tophat Gudetama to appear. He’s an elusive little lazy egg, and he does like to make you wait for his not-so-grand entrance.

After you’ve completed the quest for the first time, Pochacco will approach you each Monday, asking you to find Tophat Gudetama again.

Tophat Gudetama rewards in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Rewards for finding Tophat Gudetama in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Of course there would be little point seeking out Tophat Gudetama if there wasn’t a reward in it for you each week. For each Tophat Gudetama that you successfully find and photograph, you’ll be rewarded with a different Decorative Gudetama Plan, allowing you to create your own collection of the lazy egg.

There are a total of 52 Decorative Gudetama Plans to unlock, so you’ve got at least a year’s worth of content if you’re a fan of Gude and his lackluster approach to life. As should be expected, most of the Decorative Gudetama recipes require multiple eggs to craft, so you might want to head down to the Rockadoodler Roundup and begin stocking up now.
