An Ink-redible Experience
Though most The Legend of Zelda fans are probably used to Link in his classic green tunic and pointy had, there are several more outfits for him to wear in Tears of the Kingdom, and some come with perks such as heat protection and increased stealth.
Clothes, as well as Link’s paraglider, can be modified. This guide will show you how to dye clothes and change gliders in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Dye Clothes in Tears of the Kingdom
If Link wants to change the color of his clothes, he needs to visit Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village. The shop is owned by an eccentric fellow named Sayge, and he cracks plenty of paint-related puns. He will recolor clothing, though there are a few conditions.
Firstly, not all armor can be dyed. This includes items like the Dark Tunic and Royal Guard Uniform. Secondly, to dye the clothes, Link needs to give Sayge twenty Rupees and five items of that color to make the dye. For example, five rock salts can be used if you want Link to look pretty in pink. If purple is your preference, five Muddle Buds will do the trick. Lastly, clothes can be repainted or even reverted to their original color.
Upon entering Kochi Dye Shop and speaking to Sayge, he will place Link on a platform where you can pick which clothes you want to be dyed. Sayge will warn you if any items can’t be dyed. He also dyes entire outfits at a time, so if you want different pieces of your outfit to be different colors, you’ll have to repeat the process for each item.
After putting on the correct clothing, you’ll be able to preview the recolored clothing to see if it is to your liking. If it is, give Sayge the items he needs to create the dye and after a brief cutscene, Link will have his clothes recolored!
How to Change Paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom
Link can leap from the greatest heights and soar thanks to his paraglider. Unlike clothing, paragliders cannot be recolored. If you want to change your paraglider fabric, simply visit Sagye with at least 20 Rupees saved up.
There are a few ways to come across more fabrics. The is to complete Sayge’s requests. He reveals that he was been wanting to make a new fabric inspired by Chuchus. Give him a photograph of a Chuchu, which is possible once the Camera function of the Purah Pad is unlocked by Robbie.
Once Sayge has an image of a Chuchu, he will give Link paraglider fabric with a Chuchu painted on it. To get more paraglider fabric, show the shop owner images of other monsters and animals. These are the ones he is looking for:
- Eldin-Ostrich
- Lynel
- Gleeok
- Cucco
- Grizzlemaw-Bear
- Aerocuda
- Stalnox
Fabrics can also be obtained from some NPCs and establishments around Hyrule. The stables offer the horse-god fabric when five Pony Points have been earned, while the Monster Control Crew has their own fabric glider which is earned after completing all the “Bring Peace to” quests.
It’s worth seeking out the various armor sets hidden throughout Hyrule. They allow Link to explore areas with extreme weather, and allow him to take hits from the strongest enemies. Though paraglider fabrics provide no perks, they’re pretty fun to collect.
