The first real boss you’ll face in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is the Lictor. This is a very different enemy to any of the Tyranid hordes you’ll have faced before. It’s smart, cunning, extremely deadly, and now it’s hunting you down for Biomass.
As you blast and slice your way through the campaign in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, you’ll hit a mission when you start to feel like you’re being watched. You’ll learn this is a Lictor early on, but you don’t quite understand what that is until you face it. Mercifully, these Tyranids hunt alone, but they’re all the more deadly for it. Just one could end you with a single attack if you’re unprepared, so don’t go in expecting to take it out easily.
How to defeat the Lictor boss in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2
To defeat the Lictor boss in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, you first need to clear out every other Tyranid in the arena. This area can get very claustrophobic with lots of enemies running around, and you just want to focus on the Lictor.
The Lictor can camouflage anywhere and is almost completely undetectable. It likes to hide in the trees in this arena and leap down to pin you and quickly whittle away armor and health and kill you. Try to avoid getting caught by its unblockable attacks, the ones that are broadcast by a red icon and arrow, because they’re the ones that will cost you your life.
I really struggled with the fight against the Lictor early on. It’s unlike any other enemy you’ve faced up to this point, and it’s absolutely lethal in a fight. However, I learned that if you stick close to one tree and run around the base, the Lictor can’t really get the jump on you from above.
It definitely tries to jump down and get you, but you can see the red icon appear before the attack. When you see that red icon, dodge in any direction to avoid getting pinned. Then, turn around, find the Lictor, and shoot it a few times.
If the Lictor is on the ground but still camouflaged, look for a disturbance in the air. If you look closely, you can detect subtle movements and fire at it. This won’t deal any damage, but it’ll stop the Tyranid from getting around you and attacking from any direction other than the one you’re looking in.
When other Tyranids swarm the arena, the Lictor will forgo the camouflage and attack you face-to-face. This is incredibly dangerous because the Xenos won’t quit. It will fight until you’re down, so keep your teammates, AI, or other players through multiplayer, close.
When the Lictor is attacking you on the ground, you need to parry every attack. Just hit the parry button as it goes in for a slice. This causes it to recoil and opens up a chance for you to get a critical shot, which deals a decent chunk of damage. I managed to kill the Lictor by ending in a fight like this. Every parry is one step closer to victory. Upon my final shot, I can’t tell you how relieved I felt that I’d survived despite it feeling like a close fistfight.
