How to craft in MW3 Zombies – Schematics & Crafting Tips

For when you need something specific.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode, you’re bound to encounter many of the weapons, perks, and ammo mods you’ll need for success out in the field. But, because the selection of items and tools you receive in combat is randomized, it can be difficult if you’re looking for a specific thing.

This is where crafting comes into play. I must admit, the crafting system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode might be one of my favorites. This is because all you need to start crafting is a recipe. You don’t need to gather a bunch of otherwise useless materials scattered all over Urzikstan. Let’s take a look at the game’s crafting system in detail, and discuss the possible schematics and other useful tips!

Crafting in MW3 Zombies

To enter the crafting menu in MW3 Zombies, navigate first to your GEAR menu — this is where you’ll be able to customize your offensive loadout as well as any items you’d like to store in your rucksack. Interact with one of the empty spaces in your rucksack to be taken to a separate menu where you’re given the option to access either your Acquisition Stash or Schematic Crafting. Select Schematic Crafting.

It’s here where, if you’ve exfil’d with any crafting schematics, you’ll be able to observe your collection. But, you’ll also see the schematics you have yet to locate in the field, which is a really cool touch. It takes away the open-endedness, especially when you consider the nature of finding specific items via RNG that you never knew existed in the first place.

As mentioned above, you don’t need specific materials to craft in MW3 Zombies. You need only unlock the schematic. But, to avoid players taking advantage of the system to stockpile Speed Cola Cans or Cryo Freeze Ammo Mods, there’s a crafting cooldown that prevents you from making more than 1 of any given item at a time. It’s a slight hindrance, but one that isn’t necessarily difficult to live with.

Here are all the crafting schematics available in MW3 Zombies. It’s important to remind all soon-to-be crafting extraordinaires that, should you encounter a schematic in the wild, be sure to hold onto it until you exfil, or else you’ll lose it. This is also the case if you’re killed in action or leave the match. Also, this list could expand as the game and its subsequent seasons continue, so keep that in mind as well.

Tips for crafting in MW3 Zombies

I won’t lie — the crafting game can be rough, especially when it comes to finding schematics. I advise you not to spin your gears without traction. You can’t simply go to a specific location in Urzikstan and expect to find these schematics just lying around. So, be methodical about what contracts you take on and what story missions you’re completing. Also, be sure to open every single loot chest you find, as depending on the chest, there’s a chance you could come across a schematic there as well.

I guess the point is to exercise patience and play the game. In time, you’re bound to have earned yourself a hefty collection of schematics that’ll help turn the tide against Terminus Outcomes and the horde.
