Hot on the heels of Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong finds herself in the infamous laboratory located in Facility 1. But Ada is presented with an optional challenge. She can find and sell two Ornate Beetles as part of a request in the Separate Ways DLC for the RE4 Remake. It is probably the most challenging request to complete. I hope you remembered to pack your Biosensor Scope.
No, really. If you don’t have the Biosensor Scope found in the Waterway, you’re about to have a terrible time. I’ll continue this guide under the assumption you have the scope attached to a sniper rifle. If you don’t have those equipped, do so before entering Facility 1.
The request sheet is right past the Merchant. Your instructions are clear enough: Find and sell two Ornate Beetles. The request mentions you can find one in the Dissection room of Facility 1. But the other has been stolen, leaving you to track down the thief.
Steps to complete ‘Sell two Ornate Beetles’ request in the Separate Ways DLC
Ornate Beetle 1 Location
After noticing the shutter door in need of power, take a left and follow the hallway until you drop down a hatch. The first of the two Ornate Beetles is in the room with the glowing, purple tanks. Take out the nearby Ganados first so they can’t interfere. Next, equip your sniper rifle with the Biosensor Scope attached.
Look for the tank with a Regenerator inside. Our ugly friend seems to have swallowed the beetle! Well, that’s just fantastic. It appears we found our “thief.” You know what to do: Find your center, aim, and shoot the Regenerator’s weak points until it dies. It’ll leave the first beetle behind.
Ornate Beetle 2 Location
With the thief taken down, it’s time to head to the Dissection room of Facility 1. Go to the next room with a staircase leading up. Be careful: another Regenerator will charge at you once you reach the top of the stairs. Take it out and follow your map toward Dissection. Stop before you enter the room. There’s another damn Regenerator inside. Its back is facing the door, though, so put some distance between you and the monster and use your sniper rifle to take it out.
Enter the room and break the glass of the storage unit near the back. The second Ornate Beetle is inside:
Note: You can kill Regenerators without using a sniper rifle and Biosensor Scope. But it takes a lot more work and demands a ton of ammo and explosives (if you have them). The Blast Crossbow might also be useful if you have enough arrows.
Your reward for completing the request
You have to sell the beetles at the Merchant in order for the request to be counted as complete. The fancy bugs go for a whopping 12,000 pesetas each and you’ll get 10 Spinels for completing the order. It’s definitely worth trading them in as soon as possible.
