How to complete The Flute Player’s Plan quest in Tears of the Kingdom

Shining bright may come easy to Link, who can simply put on some special armor or eat a weird cave fish. But for others, it requires careful planning. The Flute Player’s Plan is all about making those glowing dreams happen, and you’ll need to help them out if you want another Great Fairy on the roster.

While you can stumble across The Flute Player’s Plan in the open world ofĀ Tears of the Kingdom, completing it is required for the Great Fairy side adventure Serenade to Kaysa. So even if you’re here by accident, you’ve got a potential new Great Fairy waiting for you once you’ve gathered what you need.

How to start The Flute Player’s Plan inĀ TOTK

Whether you’re here by circumstance or through the hint that the Stable Trotters maestro gives you, head to the Highland Stable. Recent reports a flute have drifted in from the north.

Luckily, you won’t have to venture far to find your target. In fact, he’s just outside the stable to the north, hiding up in a tree, playing the flute. Easy enough, right?

Well, here comes the tricky part. Our flute player, Pyper, wants to make this tree glow for a special someone. And since he can’t just shove glowing fish into it as the player does with Link, we’re going for an alternate route: fireflies.

Where to get Sunset Fireflies inĀ TOTK

We’re going to needĀ Sunset Fireflies, and we’re going to needĀ 10 of them to make this tree glow. You can buy some nearby if Beetle is hanging around. And we’ve got a solid guide on how to find them in the wild here, too.

My recommendation? Head north, and you’ll find some woods that light up at night. Wear your best stealth gear and chug a stealth potion, and you’ll have little issue walking (walking) around and picking them up.

Once you’ve got your fireflies, return to Pyper. He’ll get set up, and ask you to bring Haite over at night-time, while the weather is good. That last part is crucial, as I had my first attempt rained out.

Bring Haite to the tree, and you’ll get a nice cutscene, followed by Pyper resolving to rejoin the Stable Trotters. Now, you’re ready to head back and complete the Serenade to Kaysa.
