BitLife Espresso challenge guide

BitLife’s Espresso challenge has five objectives to complete:

  • Be born in Pennsylvania
  • Become a barista
  • Break up with someone
  • Go on vacation
  • Give an ex a Nintendo Switch

Most of this challenge is linear, with you aging up, pursuing the barista career, and getting into a relationship. From here, it’s just a matter of making enough money to give someone a Nintendo Switch and going on a quick vacation. You won’t need any special talents or stats to complete the challenge, so feel free to have fun with your character beyond this.

Be born in Pennsylvania

The first part of BitLife’s Espresso challenge is to create a character born in Pennsylvania, the United States. To do this, choose the United States as your starting country and a city like Philadelphia or Pittsburgh as your starting place.

Although the challenge doesn’t explicitly tell you to create a male or female character, I typically have much better luck finding the barista job later as a female. I’ve yet to figure out if it’s a gender-locked job, but from my previous experiences, my female characters encounter the barista position far more frequently.

Become a barista

Once you create your new character, age up until they become a teenager. Unlike previous challenges like Eager Beaver, Turn Back Time, or many others, you don’t have to wait until your character turns 18. Instead, wait until they turn 16 before checking the part-time job list and scrolling down to barista. If you don’t see it right away, age up or restart the BitLife app.

Once you spot the barista job position, apply for it to become a barista and knock out the second task.

Break up with someone

Around the same time you become a barista, you’ll also unlock the love category under Activities. Go here, pick someone to date, and break up with them immediately. The person’s stats, job, and gender won’t affect this task; the main point is to break up with them afterwards, so don’t become too attached.

Your ex will now appear in your relationships tab under exes, allowing you to give them a Nintendo Switch after making some money from your barista job. It doesn’t matter when you do this, as long as you do it eventually to finish the last task.

Go on vacation

After working as a barista for some time, you’ll have to save up a few thousand dollars for a vacation. To go on vacation, age up your character until they turn 18 before picking Activities and Vacation. The location and travel class don’t matter, so you can choose the cheapest option if you wish. Just make sure you survive the trip and avoid picking any unsafe options.

Once you pick a vacation location and complete the random event that pops up, you’ll finish the next task quickly, allowing you to move on to the final part.

Give an ex a Nintendo Switch

Remember that ex from before? After breaking up with someone, select them, pick Gift, and refresh the list until you see Nintendo Switch. You’ll need to spend a few hundred dollars on the gift, so be prepared to work as a barista or another job for a year or two to save up for it.

After you have some extra money in your bank account, pick any of your exes and give them a Nintendo Switch through the gift menu to complete the Espresso challenge in BitLife.
