Getting all the Great Fairies of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a big boon for Link’s armor. Having all three available lets you upgrade armor to the fullest; but to do that, you’ll need to complete each Great Fairy quest. And that includes the side adventure Serenade to Cotera.

Serenade to Cotera is one of the Tears of the Kingdom adventures Link can undertake with the Stable Trotters. This roving band of musicians is trying to encourage the Great Fairies of Hyrule to return with their music. But to make that happen, Link will need to help get the band back together, and get said band to their gig.

How to start Serenade to Cotera in TOTK

First off, if you’re looking to get all the Great Fairies, you’ll need to start with the introductory quest Serenade to a Great Fairy. That’s one of several side adventures in the Lucky Clover Gazette quest line, Potential Princess Sightings. (You don’t need to clear every Lucky Clover quest, just that specific one.)

Once you’ve done that, you can tackle the Great Fairy quests in any order. For the Serenade to Cotera, you’ll want to head to the Dueling Peaks Stable, in the southeast part of Hyrule.

The maestro there will inform you that they’re ready to serenade Cotera, except they need some sick beats. Specifically, beats from Beetz, who ran off earlier. His drum can draw the fairy out, but you’ll need to find him first.

From here, you’ll need to complete the Honey, Bee Mine quest found near Kakariko Village in order to progress. Finish that up to bring Beetz back to the Stable Trotters, and get the gig back on track.

How to reach Cotera in TOTK

With Beetz returned to the band, you’re ready to go put on a musical serenade for Cotera. Only one issue remains: the river.

The Stable Trotters need to get across the river in order to perform, and their cart isn’t exactly built for aquatic excursions. Time for some extra-creative Ultrahand work, using all the nearby available equipment.

Two pieces of advice I would give to anyone attempting this are:

  • Make a light, but stable, platform for the cart
  • Use wind to your advantage

With those in mind, I present to you humbly and without shame, one of my weirdest builds for quest-solving in Tears of the Kingdom thus far.

Yes, that’s two fans, a sail, a battery, and a control unit slapped somewhere on the front. It doesn’t have to be ocean-worthy, it just needs to make it across a river.

Once you’ve made it across, you can perform the gig and bring Cotera out of her bulb. You’ll get your rewards, plus access to the Great Fairy. And since these beings hold the key to empowering Link’s armor for the trials to come, it’s quite worth unlocking all of them.
