How to complete Riven’s Wishes 1 in Destiny 2

Wish I may wish I might...

While Destiny 2 hype this week may be around the newly announced crossover between Destiny 2 and Mass Effect, it’s finally time to wish. As of January 30, Riven’s Wishes are available in-game. But some players might wonder how to start and complete these new activities or whether they’re worth doing. It’s safe to say that most, if not all, players will hunger for the rewards from Riven’s Wishes. Each tempts Guardians with a wide selection of coveted weapon patterns and Exotic armor. And it can even reward the best shader in the game.

Riven’s Wishes are a new quest line within Season 23. Players can visit Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M. each week to start a Riven’s Wish quest. Each multi-stepped Wish calls for players to complete different objectives around the Dreaming City in exchange for a Wish Token. Those Wish Tokens are the key to loot, as each is separately redeemable for player-chosen rewards.

For its debut week, Guardians will be tackling Riven’s Wishes 1. Of course, players will want to nab the task from Mara in the H.E.L.M. before taking off to the Dreaming City. Kicking things off for the first Wish, players must complete public events and other activities within the Dreaming City.

After players start the first Riven’s Wishes quest, they’ll be tasked with traveling to the Dreaming City. The first step of Riven’s Wishes 1 demands that players complete three Rift Generator public events. These specific public events only occur in The Strand, but thankfully, they also grant progress to this step’s other objective. The quest also calls for completing different activities across the Dreaming City, with more challenging options contributing to more progress.

At a rate of 3% for regular and 5% per Heroic public event, there are faster ways to get to 100% activity completion. Still, between Rift Generator public events, there are bound to be other events popping off, and many are doable in just a couple of minutes. As for other activities, The Blind Well offers a whopping 17% per Tier 3 Heroic completion. However, remember that the whole activity probably takes five or six minutes.Ā

Lost Sector completions each grant 6%, which productivity-wise might be the best payout, as some, like Bay of Drowned Wishes, can be completed in a minute or two. Of course, activities like a Nightfall strike, Dungeon, or Raid grant the most progress, but they can take the longest time to complete without a dedicated Fireteam.

Returning to Mara

After players have made the Dreaming City a better place, it’ll be time to return to the H.E.L.M. and speak with Mara. The Awoken Queen will be pleased with our progress and hand over the first Wish Token. While there doesn’t seem to be anything stopping players from hoarding the Tokens for later use, they must be used by the end of the Season of the Wish.

The final step in Riven’s Wishes 1 quest is for Guardians to spend their hard-earned Wish Token on a reward of their choice. Three categories of prizes are available via Mara, including Last Wish weapon patterns, every Exotic armor piece fromĀ Lightfall, and even a “Miscellany” tab featuring theĀ Lost MementoĀ andĀ Dawning Memento.

While plenty of great rewards exist, there’s no need to stress out over the decision. There will be six weeks of Riven’s Wishes total, so players will have five more opportunities to choose the loot they want.
