How to complete First Recon in Gray Zone Warfare

Starting off strong!

Gray Zone Warfare’sĀ First Recon mission involves finding a few structures near base headquarters. Although map coordinates differ with each faction, the objectives remain relatively the same. So, to help you with this initial quest, here’s where to find the gas station, convenience store, and demolished building.Ā

To start First Recon in Gray Zone Warfare, open your inventory (‘I’ button) at your base and select the ‘Vendor’ tab. While on the Handshake section, choose ‘Tasks’ to trigger the mission start. Coordinates will be provided to you and will vary depending on your faction. For a complete guide to these coordinates, here’s a breakdown of each faction’s building locations:

  • Mithras:
    • Gas station: 170, 121
    • Convenience store: 171, 118
    • Demolished building: 170, 116
  • Lamang:
    • Gas station: 200, 160
    • Convenience store: 201, 163
    • Demolished building: 203, 163
  • Crimson:
    • Gas station: 144, 161
    • Convenience store: 141, 162
    • Demolished building: 141, 165

Before embarking on the First Recon mission in Gray Zone Warfare, it’s crucial to equip yourself with gear and weapons from the tutorial phase. I strongly advise attaching medical supplies like bandages or splints to your inventory. This preparation prevents you from bleeding out or injuring yourself on the field. You should also gear up for GZW’s Night Ops update, featuring the new Day and Night Cycle. If you’re going into First Recon in the dark, bring along Night Vision Goggles or flashlights with you.

Press the ‘M’ key to open the map, which uses X and Y coordinates. Use the mission data to narrow down the gas station, convenience store, and demolished building locations.

No matter which faction you’re in, Gray Zone Warfare’s First Recon requires you to travel to a nearby city. Getting there shouldn’t take too long, as it will be close to the starting base. Unfortunately, the coordinates won’t pinpoint the structure’s exact destination, so knowing what you’re looking for is essential.

Gas station location

The gas station is the most accessible building to look out for since it isn’t as hidden as the others. Enemy soldiers may be nearby, so clear the area just in case. All you have to do is walk up to the station, and a quest notification should indicate this objective’s success.

Convenience store location

First Recon’s convenience store can be tricky to find, considering that multiple store-like structures will be nearby. Stick to the main roadway, which should be close to the coordinates, to pinpoint the shop. Don’t make the same mistake as I did by traveling through the marketplace (it will be nearby). While it may look like the store will be there, it has nothing to do with the objective.

Demolished building location

The last location, the demolished building, can be conveniently seen with its blue tarps. You must go next to the bulldozer to complete the last step for Gray Zone Warfare’s First Recon mission.

Upon completion, you’ll be rewarded with cash, Reputation points, XP, and two gear items. You’ll also move on to the next Handshake quest, Little Bird Down.
