How to complete Cuccos on the Loose quest in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

How to get on top of that pesky windmill

One of the few areas to be mostly unaffected by the rifts is the peaceful Kakariko Village. While monsters aren’t running rampant, there are still a few villagers in need of Zelda’s help. Here’s how to complete the Cuccos on the Loose quest in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Kakariko Village is located directly west of Hyrule Castle. Head up the steps at the entrance of the village then go west to find a woman near a fence. Talk with the woman to begin the Cuccos on the Loose quest.

The woman needs your help to find her five Cuccos that are scattered around Kakariko village. When you find a Cucco, you have to pick them up and toss them back into their pen. Every Cucco has a tendency to wander off from their original hiding spot, but you can reset each Cucco’s position by entering and exiting a house.

The first Cucco is right by the entrance to Kakariko Village. This Cucoo may wander east towards a house, but it won’t go up the steps or leave the village.

The second Cucco is walking towards the north part of the village, near the fence where the quest begins. This Cucco can head further north or even walk into the woman desperately looking for them.

The third Cucco is directly south of the woman asking for help. The Cucco is near the house with flowers growing out of the roof. This Cucco can end up walking into the nearby patches of flowers, making it difficult to spot them.

The fourth Cucco is in the northwest corner of town in the graveyard. This Cucco tends walking out of the graveyard, into the path in the center of the village.

The fifth Cucco is in the northeast corner of the village on top of a windmill. This Cucco won’t move around, so you can’t wait for the Cucco to fall off.

How to get on top of the Windmill

To get on top of the windmill, start heading up the Eldin Volcano Trail north of the village. Hop up the first ledge and make your way over to the cliff above the path you just walked through. Place two bed Echoes here to create a bridge connecting this cliff to the one on the east side.

Walk over to the east side of this cliff and you’ll be able to see the windmill south of your position. Now summon a Guay Echo and immediately press A to pick up the bird. Walk off the cliff and you’ll be able to use the Guay as a glider to float towards the roof of the windmill. Aim for the left side of the windmill, as the roof is a bit lower and easier to land on.

If you don’t have a Guay echo, you can also use another Cucco as a glider. You’ll just need to repeatedly throw the chicken over and over to get them up the mountain.

After returning all five Cuccos to the pen, the woman will give you a Fairy Bottle as a reward.
