How to complete Beneath Scabaras’ Sands in Runescape

The Beneath Scabaras’ Sands quest is a brand new mission you can complete in RuneScape.

This quest is a fresh addition to the Desert Quest series, and it’s a direct continuation of the previous tasks. If you’re someone who pays a lot of attention to the lore, you’ll want to complete the full quest as quickly as possible. You’ll also need the paid membership to complete the quest (this is mandatory).

How to start the Beneath Scabaras’ Sands quest in RuneScape

To begin the quest, go to Osman in the Throne Room, located at Menaphos. Participate in the council meeting and wait for Osman to change the conversation to Amascut’s plans with Scabaras. He will instruct you to collect the reports from the four regional leaders.

• Emil Ali Mirza: Emir can be found at Al Kharid, so use a lodestone to teleport to the location. Walk south, and you’ll find Emir. Inform him that Osman has sent you, and he will discuss his relationship with Osman before handing you the report.
• Hakeem: To find Hakeem, use the Pollniveach magic carpet to travel to the town squad. He will provide you with the report after identifying who you are and announcing that Pollniveach is doing well.
• Awusah: Again use the magic carpet to travel to Nardah, and he can be found at the eastern house by the fountain. Once you remind him of your past help during the drought and restoration of the temple, Awusah will speak about Elidinis’ blessings and the unexpected help from the Monkey colony before handing you the report.
• The High Priest: You’ll have to use the Menaphos lodestone and cross the bridge to reach Sophanem. Enter the church situated to the east of the bridge, and the priest will explain about the Devourer and how it twisted Scabaras’ followers.

Once you collect all four reports, go back to Osman’s palace in Menaphos. As you try to enter the palace, a cutscene will trigger, revealing the impending attack.

Neutralizing the attack will be the first step towards completing the quest.

Mission	How to Complete
Defend Menaphos	First, defeat all the invaders, starting from the upper level. You’ll encounter corrupted scarabs and Profane Scabarites. Once you’ve dealt with them, head to the center area. While dealing with the enemies is important, make sure to heal the allied NPCs as required. Once a commander informs you that the reports lost will be recovered, go back to Osman. Inform him and the council about the attack. He will send you to the Grand Library to find more information about Scabaras.
Look for the Golden Scarab	You’ll have to meet with Leela, who is located in the library’s second row. She will be discussing a book with her friend. Find this book and return it to her to learn more about the Golden Scarab. Go to Uzer Mastaba for more information, and then speak to the Lead Archaeologist at Uzer. Kerner, the archaeologist, will require an artifact for trading the damaged Golden Scarab. To restore the Golden Scarab, you’ll need 30 Kharidian Gold and two ancient Rubies from scorched sand hotspots. Once you have the required materials, restore the Scarab and return it to Osman.
Find Scabaras’ Temple	The restored Golden Scarab will help you to find the Scabarite Cavern. It will help you to reach the temple, and you will have to collect five building materials from the debris hotspots near a damaged boat. Profane Scabarites will spawn around you; defeat them to get more materials and repair the boat. Use the boat to reach the Temple, and awaken Scabaras. You’ll encounter three scarabs, called Fear, Ego, and Melancholy. For Fear, scare it by blocking its escape routes and guide it to the doorway. For Ego, lure it with Cavern Dwellberries. For Melancholy, use motivational quotes.
Defeat Grief	Scabaras will reveal important information about Osman (not mentioning it here as it’s a spoiler). Coenus will try to destroy Scabaras’ plinth and reveal Amascut’s location. You’ll have to also defeat a Level 146 scarab named Grief with 80,000 health. You’ll need a lot of healing items to survive the battle. Once you manage to do that, you’ll witness the failed attempt by Amascut to absorb Tumeken’s essence. Return to Menaphos, and you’ll receive Scabaras’ gratitude for your work.
