How to change your appearance in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

No, you can't be a purple Na'vi.

If you’re playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and regret your choice in hairstyle (even if there are maybe only four at the start), you don’t have to suffer long. You can change your appearance in Avatar: FoP after starting the game, you just need to know what object to use.

There are only a handful of places in Avatar: FoP that let you alter your look. They can also be tough to find, so much so that I often had to wander aimlessly using my Focus until I found one. It’s a little bewildering, especially since you can earn more hair color options and body paint patterns as you play the game. Who doesn’t want to stop and spruce up their looks?

You can change your appearance in Avatar: FoP at home bases

To change your appearance in Avatar: FoP, you need to locate and use a ‘Changing Place’ object in one of the several major bases in the game. As mentioned, you should use your Focus ability to spot and highlight it through walls or at a distance. The Changing Place is, uh, a bit difficult to describe otherwise. It looks like a construct of bowls and sticks woven together.

To change your looks, approach the Changing Place and hold the activation button or key when you see the ‘Use’ prompt.

You’re taken to the character customization screen you saw when first starting the game. Here, you have the option to change your hairstyle and color, face and body paint, body type, voice, and more. You can completely remake your character from scratch, and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of penalty attached. The Changing Place doesn’t require you to spend anything to use it, either.

Where to find a Changing Place in Avatar: FoP

You can find a Changing Place at any of these locations:

  • Resistance Hideout
  • The Hollows
  • Hometree
  • The Circle

The aforementioned places are the major bases for each faction or clan. You gain access to the other Na’vi Clan Homes as you progress through the story.
