How to change your Activision name

It doesn't have to be xxSephiroth777xx anymore.

Sometimes you’ll want to change your Activision name. Perhaps you’re not a fan of a certain sports team anymore like the Edmonton Oilers and focused your username around it years ago (ahem). Here’s how to change it.

How to alter your Activision name

Unfortunately, you can’t change your Activision name from the main menu of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and other titles from the publisher. Instead, you’ll have to head to the Activision support website and look to the top right-hand side. Log in here.

Next, click on “My account.” Click the “Basic Info” tab on the left. On the bottom of these options, you’ll see your Activision ID. Press the “Edit” button on the right.

You’ll be asked to send an account verification code to your email address. Click on “Send Code.” Check your email and you should get it in a snap from Activision Publishing. Copy the verification code and then paste it into the Account Management screen.

Go back to the Basic Info screen again and then choose to edit your Activision ID once more. You can now alter it, but you only have a certain amount of username changes available. Make sure it’s a name you can stick to.

How many times can you change your username?

You’re only able to change the Activision name three times during the lifetime of your account. If you need more, you’ll need to contact Activision support, but nothing is guaranteed.

Now, you can play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and other Activision games without worrying about your terrible username.
