How to catch the “Jewel Thief” in the Resident Evil 4 remake

You’ll get it in Chapter 12

The Merchant is a bit more lively this time around in the Resident Evil 4 remake, and will pay you (in Spinels) for completed requests; which are sort of like high-risk errands. Here’s how to finish the Jewel Thief request and bring a pesky crow to justice. It only takes a few minutes into Chapter 12 to get this done.

You can pick up the Jewel Thief request right after starting Chapter 12

Directly following the first encounter with Krauser, Chapter 11 will end and you’ll kick off Chapter 12. Go up the elevator and locate The Merchant; then grab the requests off the wall leading to his abode.

One of those is “Jewel Thief.”

Head to the courtyard after getting the request

Go directly to the courtyard area of the castle (to the west of your current location, using the map as a guide) to start the hunt for the Jewel Thief: a humble crow that lives in the said courtyard.

After startling it upon entering the area, you’ll want to make your way to the far west area of the courtyard: into the connecting area with the water feature which splits to lead into both the Wine Cellar and the Water Hall. Before going under the pictured alcove (next to The Merchant icon on the map, heading north), look up. You’ll spot a crow and its nest above the doorway.

Shoot the nest (the crow will fly off!) and the Scratched Emerald will drop to the ground. Pick it up.

Sell the scratched emerald to complete the request – plus your Jewel Thief rewards

The Merchant is located under the nest in that alcove. You can turn in the Jewel Thief request immediately after selling the scratched emerald that dropped from the nest.

You’ll get three Spinels and 5,000 Pesetas for your effort!
