Inventory management is a necessary evil in survival games, and when youāre getting started with Enshrouded you wonāt make it far with your backpack alone.
Without any backpack extensions equipped, youāve only got 24 slots for storage. There are 16 more slots on your action bar, but even with those I burned through my space pretty quickly. I suppose if I didnāt pick up every rock, bug, and blade of grass in sight Iād have an easier time of it, but whereās the fun in that?
Storage crates, thankfully, are pretty easy to build and access early on. They arenāt an option in the basic crafting menu, so youāll need to pop down a workbench before you can make one. In the workbench menu, there are storage options underneath the āSurvivalā subheading. Youāll be able to make a tiny chest right at the start of the game, but the small chest option youāll also have access to will take a little more work.
Early options
The tiny chest is an adorable wicker contraption that requires some twigs and string to make. It only offers 16 storage slots, but especially early in the game thatās enough to offload some resources that will just be eating space until you have a reason to use them later on. This is probably your best option the first time your backpack fills up.
The small chest is definitely a more long term storage solution because it has 24 slots, essentially giving you another backpackās worth of space. Crafting it requires wood logs and nails, though, so you wonāt be able to build it right away. First youāll need to complete the Find the Sleeping Survivor quest, so Oswald Anders the Blacksmith can craft those nails for you.
