How to begin the Baldur’s Gate 3 Epilogue (BG3)

One last good-bye.

One of the big features of Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is the addition of an epilogue. You spent a long time with these characters, so you probably want to see how they’re doing after the events of the game. So, how do you access it?

I’m going to try to do this as spoiler-free as possible. What is considered a spoiler varies from person to person, but I’m going to use the vaguest of references here.

You’ll be taken to the epilogue after completing the final battle and finishing the game. You can’t really miss it.

Actually, you can, and that’s if you completed the game before Patch 5 was released. The game has already ended with the former epilogue, so the new one is technically locked out. If you want to see the epilogue with an old save, you’re going to need to load a save before the final battle and complete it again. They will then usher you into the epilogue.

The epilogue takes place six months after the end of Baldur’s Gate 3. It gives you a chance to see how everyone has moved on from the experience and reconnect with your friends and (maybe) loved ones. It’s tailored to how you played the game, so any decisions you made will be reflected, and any deaths that happen will leave those characters absent. It brings better closure than the original ending did.
