How to bake cookies in Destiny 2

Destiny 2‘s Dawning of 2023 is now officially up and running, and that means Guardians are now bound to throw snowballs and bake cookies, amidst all the other Vanguard-authorized business. With new cosmetics and weapons to chase after, cookie baking is the crux of the matter, however.

Though veteran Guardians will already know how to go about baking Dawning cookies in Destiny 2, the process may feel a tad obtuse to newcomers, and our guide explains the whole thing in the simplest terms possible. Basically, you’ll be baking things in no time at all (for better or for worse).

Destiny 2’s Dawning cookies offer plenty of stuff to do between missions

The good news is that, broadly speaking, Dawning cookie-baking is a sub-activity layered between your usual Destiny gameplay loop. In between operations, you’ll have the opportunity to spend unique Dawning resources to mix up cookies that can subsequently be given out to specific vendor NPCs. Upon doing so, you’re rewarded with a Dawning gift package that contains themed loot, cosmetics, and resources, depending on how (un)lucky you are.

It all kicks off when you load up into the Tower and visit Eva Levante, the event vendor, for the first time. Within a few clicks, you’ll be equipped with a special Holiday Oven item of your own, allowing you to bake cookies whenever and wherever you are.

Accessible through the ‘Quests’ tab in the Director, The Holiday Oven is a simple, albeit spruced-up bit of user interface. Upon opening it up, you can either select from a list of pre-made recipes you had previously discovered, or mix-and-match the ingredients however you wish. Both approaches are perfectly fine, though note that you’re bound to waste some potentially hard-earned resources if you just click away willy-nilly. If you’re trying to uncover all the recipes for the first time and don’t want any spoilers, it’s actually pretty easy to figure out how to grab each ingredient if you’re familiar with Destiny lore.

Whenever you discover a new cookie recipe, its requirements will be permanently memorized within the Oven UI for future use. Further, after you’ve baked each type of cookie at least once, you’ll have the opportunity to masterwork your Oven. Masterworking the Holiday Oven substantially reduces the amount of Essence of Dawning you use to bake each cookie, making this upgrade a must-have for those who intend to grind this year’s Dawning even for all that it’s worth.

This entirely new screen guides you through the entire Dawning quest line step by step, providing valuable hints on how to collect the necessary ingredients and to whom each cookie ought to be delivered.
