Despite Helldivers 2 being a co-op multiplayer game with no PvP elements, it still has its share of cheaters. These players aren’t trying to beat anyone, mainly because that’s not really possible or productive.
Instead, they’re cheating in resources, which is worse. This ruins the sense of progression Arrowhead Game Studios has crafted and puts those not cheating in danger of being banned because of them.
How to avoid cheaters in Helldivers 2
To avoid cheaters in Helldivers 2, you need to pay attention to the number of Samples your team has acquired. Most missions have an upper limit of around 30 or 40 Common, Rare, and Super Samples to collect. If you notice while playing the mission that the number of Samples collected is way above this, in the hundreds of thousands, you’re playing with cheaters.
At this point, you should quit the mission and go back to your ship. It’s not worth the risk to your account if you end that mission and earn all those Samples, Medals, and whatever else has been cheated in. If you only notice the insane number of resources earned in the end-of-mission screen, then you need to report that to Arrowhead Game Studios, as I’ve outlined below, to avoid an account ban. At the very least, you need to get away from that group of players to keep away from any more cheating.
How to stop an account ban for playing with cheaters in Helldivers 2
If you end up having cheaters join your mission, or join a mission with some, in Helldivers 2, then there’s one thing you absolutely must do to avoid an account ban for cheating. You’ve got to visit the official Arrowhead Game Studios website and submit a support ticket. In that ticket, mention that you suspect you’ve just been playing with cheaters and the reasons why.
The development team will investigate and resolve this situation for you. If you ended up getting a bunch of Samples or other resources that were cheated in, they’ll be removed from your account. More crucially, though, you won’t receive an account ban for cheating in resources.
Cheating resources into Helldivers 2 ruins the point of playing. Samples, Medals, and Super credits can all be earned in-game to help players slowly grind out new gear and become more powerful over time. That intended experience is destroyed when you get all the resources you need after a single mission.
The developer is looking for cheaters who do this and will ban anyone who does it because they don’t want their game to be packed with cheaters. The first Helldivers had a cheating issue, and that’s why Arrowhead Game Studios is so hot on them in the sequel. You don’t want to get banned for someone else’s actions, so report any cheating you see as soon as you’re done with the mission.
