How to activate cross-progression in Dead by Daylight

Play anywhere on the same account at long last.

We’ve had to stick with one platform in Dead by Daylight for the longest time because there’s been no way to carry progression and purchases between them. Thankfully, Behaviour Interactive has changed that with the implementation of cross-progression, but you’ve got to set it up first.

Dead by Daylight‘s had dozens of Chapters of DLC, each adding new characters an maps that players must purchase access to. These are at the heart of why cross-progression has been so difficult for Behaviour Interactive to implement because DLC is priced according to each platform, and there are, of course, different prices for each region. Now that cross-progression is available, having been revealed alongside the game’s 2v8 livestream, pricing has been altered to make it fairer for developers and players once it’s been set up for their Behaviour Interactive account.

To enable cross-progression in Dead by Daylight, you’ll first need to access your Behaviour Interactive account. This is separate from your Steam, Microsoft, Nintendo, and PSN account details. To begin this process, you must visit the official Behaviour Interactive account website and sign in or create an account.

Once you’re signed in, you should head to the Connections page and link all of the platforms where you’ve played Dead by Daylight. This will ensure that all of the platforms you’ve played the game on are linked to the same account. For example, I play on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch, but PlayStation is my main platform of choice for most DLC. So, all my DLC purchases are locked to my PS4 and PS5.

Next, you need to open the Dead by Daylight game page. At the top of the page, you can check the compensations you should be able to claim. It’s important to check this first to ensure that you’ve synced all your linked accounts and will gain access to all the DLC you’ve purchased. If you can see all of this information, then it’s time to enable cross-progression.

Follow the on-screen instructions to link your accounts through cross-progression. You’ll be able to select the DLC you want to have access to on all platforms, though some restrictions will apply. Any DLC purchased on your Nintendo account cannot be shared between other platforms, and any DLC accessed via a family-sharing service is also restricted to the account it was purchased on.

After you’ve been through this process, you should be able to play as all of the characters you’ve purchased on every linked account. For me, this meant I could bring all the DLC I’d purchased on PlayStation over to Steam so I could play on Steam Deck. All character levels from PlayStation were also applied to every account because the highest character level is the one that’s synced.
