Baldurās Gate 3 Act 3 ushers in another layer of its intimate storytelling in Act 3, including another look at the seriesā headstrong Harper leader, Jaheira. If youāve stumbled upon her home in the city, chances are youāll want some help snooping.
Good news ā Iām nosy, so head on over to Elerrathinās Home in the lower city. Discovering the mysteries around Jaheiraās study in Baldurās Gate (X: 220, Y:32), includes breaking into the office with a secret Pin Hole insert on the side of her desk, but no worries, itās easy enough to sort.
Elerrathinās Home ā Whatās this button do?
The Pin Slot on the side of the desk requires ā wait for it ā a pin. But not just any old trinket will do, either; youāll need to recover the Harp-Shaped Pin from little Tate upstairs.
I tried speaking to him without Jaheira, and no dice, so I left, added her to the party, and walked back into the family home to watch their feud. Help Jaheira and her family hash things out, then go back upstairs to talk to the little boy, Tate. Heāll give you the pin with Jaheira there.
Jaheiraās Basement and the Harp-Shaped Pin
Return to Jaheiraās study and insert the Harp-Shaped Pin, the desk splits to reveal a way down below. Itās puzzle time. Selecting the first orb plainly tells you what to do, no secrets here ā identify the element of each orb along the path, then use the same element to blow the orb up and disarm the trap.
- Frosted Orb ā Frost
- Scorched Orb ā Fire
- Crackling Orb ā Lightning
- Oozing Orb ā Poison
From what I could glean, thereās no benefit to disabling the orbs, and just using Jaheira to bypass them entirely yields the same results. The last orb, being green and all, gave me a little bit of trouble, but no itās not necrotic or acid damage.
Evergreen advice, but if you see an animal in Baldurās Gate 3, talk to it. Anyone with Speak to Animals can chat with the three rats and badger in the basement, but I chose Jaheira since itās her home and all. Theyāll key you in on vague details for other quests, but nothing too specific. Then head inside the little cubby to grab a few goodies, including a book for you lore hunters, The Bhaalspawn Saga: Part I.
There are two other areas of interest to note here: the Loose Planks in the back and a secret passage through the bookshelf. To uncover the Loose Planks without blowing up whatās hidden underneath, youāll need to pass a 15 Dexterity check. Grab the Key as your reward.
Trying to move the bookshelf prompts a conversation with Jaheira, where she reveals that whatever awaits beyond the door is deeply personal. Baldurās Gate 3 being the game it is ultimately means this can unfold in a million ways, but my Tav didnāt pressure the Druid much. After a little conflict with herself, Jaheira went from asking for privacy to deciding that the party should go ahead and proceed.
Inside, youāll find Rite of the Timeless Body ā a scroll Jaheira explains if pressed. In the chest awaits rare weapons, the Belm (scimitar) and Staff of the Ram (quarterstaff). Khalidās Gift, a necklace bestowing wisdom and healing spell, also awaits in the back.
