Well, there are more than 18 quintillion planets in No Man’s Sky. To be precise, No Man’s Sky has 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets. This is possible due to the use of procedural generation in No Man’s Sky. Each planet in the game is part of a star system, and each star system has 2-6 planets and moons. Many of the planets in No Man’s Sky do not have a moon, but every now and then, you will stumble upon planets with one or even two moons.

Planets in No Man’s Sky are unique due to the procedural generation at play, which creates different forms of flora, fauna, and also determines the weather, temperature, and other defining features of a planet. You could run into a planet on fire, or one covered with snow. Some planets in No Man’s Sky have consistent rain and storms, while there are also planets with calm weather, and sunsets worth staring at.

Moreover, each planet has its own set of resources that are possible to obtain. For example, if players are looking for Copper, they will not find it on all planets in the game. This is one of the primary driving forces behind the gameplay of No Man’s Sky, as players would have to explore new planets and star systems to find the resources they are looking for.
