If you’ve been trying to log into Destiny 2, you’ve likely encountered a significant roadblock. This is due to a crucial server downtime, a necessary step to prepare for the highly anticipated release of The Final Shape. So, if you’re eagerly awaiting to jump in, here’s how long Destiny 2 will be down.
Destiny 2 server downtime for The Final Shape, explained
Based on the Destiny Server and Update Status page, Destiny 2 will be offline until June 4 at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET. That means the server downtime will last around 24 hours, starting on June 3 at 9 a.m. PT.
During this time, Destiny 2 players won’t be able to log in or participate in activities. An ongoing Destiny maintenance period will also last for a few more hours, ending around 12 p.m. PT on June 4. You’ll still be able to play the game two hours prior, but you may encounter some sign-on issues until the maintenance has concluded. In this case, players may be placed in a queue while it is active.
Once Destiny 2’s downtime is up, players can expect the launch of The Final Shape. The DLC drops at the same time and features a new campaign with an immeasurable number of unique challenges. Pre-loads are available, but be wary of its hefty storage space of more than 100 GB. Considering the size, it’s best to prepare during the downtime, just so you’re ready for launch.
