How long is The Finals open beta playtest? – When does it end?

The open beta is available now, but for how long?

A battle royale-esque shooter inspired by game shows, The Finals is currently playable in an open beta playtest ā€” but how long until it ends?

The Finals open beta playtest began on October 26 and will run until November 5. It should prove an ideal distraction from all the creeps and scares during the week. I suppose it’s certainly something you can do if you’re too old for trick-or-treating. So instead of candy, maybe some shiny gold coins will suffice?

The Finals open beta playtest gets a new map and mode

The Finals open beta is introducing a new game mode called ‘Bank It’. Get two of your most trusted allies for this one. Your team gets matched against four other groups in something that developer Embark Studios calls a “casual friendly” but still “combat-focused” mode. It’s all about, well, banking as much cash as possible before the end of the round. And whichever team hoards the most gold wins. Naturally!

The full list of modes in the beta:

  • Bank It
  • Unranked Tournament
  • Ranked Tournament
  • Quick Cash
  • Practice Range

The playtest is also allowing shooter fans the chance to try the new map, called Skyway Stadium. You can see it featured in the game’s beta playtest trailer. The map only looks like half of what I expected. There is a massive arena with a screaming crowd, sure. But instead of a pitcher’s mound, we get a small arena packed with skyscrapers, as well as commercial and residential buildings. Your typical battle royale-looking map, but compact and likely more intense.

Other maps in the playtest include:

  • Monaco
  • Seoul

If you play The Finals open beta playtest before the end of November 5, you can earn rewards that carry into the full version of the game. You can get Contestant progression, which includes “16 exclusive rewards” and item progression of “5 Master Levels per weapon.” There’s also League Progression that offers rewards based on your end rank, with a unique skin for those who make it up to Diamond Tier.

To play the beta, head to the game’s Steam Store page and click on the ‘Request Access’ button under “Join The Finals Playtest.”
