How will the Season Pass work in NBA 2K25?

Good returns for the hardcore grinders

In NBA 2K25, the Season Pass will be especially important for those who invest time in the MyPlayer and MyTeam modes.

Introduced last year, it’s confirmed that seasonal passes will continue to be released in the upcoming release. Once again, every Season Pass will offer two types of premium upgrades, which can be purchased as microtransactions. Let’s take a look at if there will be any changes to last year’s systems and how much you will have to pay to opt for one of the two premium upgrades.

What is an NBA 2K25 Season Pass?

A Season Pass is a special set of rewards that are released once every season. A total of 80 different items are available for free for all. Half of those rewards are useable in the MyPlayer mode, while the remainder is useable in MyTeam.

Thankfully, you have to unlock 40 levels of rewards, and not 80. Reward unlocks are simultaneous – you can get rewards for both modes by grinding out either MyPlayer/MyTeam or both. The progress you make in one mode carries over to the other.

It remains to be seen if NBA 2K will change the nature of the rewards available as part of the seasonal passes. Last year, they mostly included cosmetics, VCs, boosters, and special cards.

How to upgrade the NBA 2K25 Season Pass?

If you want more from your efforts, you can opt for either the Pro Pass upgrade ($9.99) or the Hall of Fame Pass upgrade ($19.99).

The Pro Pass unlocks 40 extra levels of rewards, which include up to 45,000 earnable VC. Additionally, four unique rewards are unlocked automatically. Typically, this will consist of one special card for your MyTeam squad, along with a few more cosmetics.

The Hall of Fame Pass upgrade includes everything you get with Pro Pass. However, there’s more in the form of a 15% XP booster (for the entire season), 10-level skips, and 15,000 extra VC (unlocked instantly).

Is the NBA 2K25 Season Pass upgrade worth buying?

It remains to be seen if NBA 2K will change the structure of the seasonal passes. Assuming they retain their older structure, I feel that the Pro Pass upgrade is worth getting. For $10, the extra card you get will be very useful at the start of the game. The additional VC can be used to get packs, but most players use it to upgrade their MyPlayer creation. Getting the pass upgrade is a more efficient way to get more VC rather than buying it directly.

However, avoid the microtransactions if you’re looking for a casual approach. There are plenty of ways to grind MyPlayer and MyTeam modes to earn more rewards. That way, you get to save your money and still enjoy all the available content.
