How does Hunger work in LEGO Fortnite

I don't like you when you're hangry.

In LEGO Fortnite, by default you’ll take damage if you don’t keep fed. It’s a rough-and-tumble world out there, and just because it just so happens to be made of LEGO doesn’t mean you should underestimate it. To keep yourself sated, you’ll need to keep a hefty stock of berries, meat, or other food items.

Don’t get hangry, have a raspberry

It’s possible your most plentiful supply of food in LEGO Fortnite will be raspberries or pumpkins, as they were for me. This is because the surrounding area where I started building my encampment was utterly surrounded in the stuff, so collecting them became the easiest means of staving off hunger.

In any case, your character’s hunger meter can be found in the top left corner, surrounding your character’s portrait. It’ll continuously diminish the more you exist, but it does seem to be tied to how hard you’re working at any given time. In my experience, after having tested the rate at which my hunger diminished, it ranged from less than a minute-per-hunger notch to almost 1.5 minutes-per-hunger notch.

To replenish your hunger meter, take a break from whatever it is you’re doing and have a snack! Each food item replenishes a certain amount of points to your hunger meter, so you’ll have to learn which item is more practical when on long adventures versus which you might want to leave at home.

Also, some food items offer special effects that others don’t. For example, the Snow Berry increases heat resistance, so you might want to stock up for when you venture out into an arid climate.

Why am I always hungry in LEGO Fortnite?

It would seem that a rash of players are experiencing what feels like a bug in LEGO Fortnite when it comes to hunger. In a post on Reddit as well as on Twitter, players are suggesting that if you play in any other language than English, the food items don’t do as much to replenish the hunger meter.

I’d like to go out on a limb here and say this is most definitely a bug with very unfortunate connotations, and that Epic Games will probably be issuing a patch to fix this as soon as possible. But, if you find yourself in need of an immediate fix, the only thing we can suggest at this time is to create a new world, but this time be sure to toggle ‘Hunger’ to OFF. It’s not an ideal solution, but it is a solution, nonetheless.
